Introduction

Even in the earliest times, humans made weapons, tools, and other useful items from the natural resources available.

Humans have always been inclined to make things. Whether it’s a shelter to protect the family from the weather, tools, or weapons – making things involves gathering raw materials and fashioning them into something useful.

Throughout history, mankind has become increasingly proficient at making things. One person – instead of making all the items he needs – makes and sells one item, while purchasing other needed items from other craftsmen. Focusing on the production of one type of item is known as specializing.
