Tic-Tac-Toe Bot is a way for a pair of students to learn coordinates and game strategy using T-Bot II robotic arms. To win a game of Tic-Tac-Toe Bot, a student is the first to place three foam blocks in a row, whether it is a vertical, horizontal, or diagonal row. The other player tries to block the first player from getting three in a row while building his or her own row. Players alternate until someone gets three in a row or until all the squares are filled.
First, prepare the playing field on a piece of graph paper. Secure the playing field to a flat surface with tape. Align a T-Bot II on each player’s side and make sure they are positioned to be able to reach all the squares.
Give each player five foam blocks and have the players line the blocks up in front of them. Have one player mark his or her blocks with an X, and the other player marks his or her blocks with an O. One player begins by placing one of their five blocks in the nine-square by picking up the block and moving it with the T-Bot II. Then the other player plays, using strategy to try to block the other player and win the game.
