The Best Example of a Selfless Person

Fredonia High School’s Barb Baker named Pitsco Teacher of the Year
Forgive Fredonia High School Principal Jim Lambert if he comes across as a bit biased when singing the praises of Special Education Teacher Barb Baker.

Baker has been named the Pitsco Teacher of the Year for 2008-2009. Her name was selected from among the 18 teachers in consideration who were recognized as teachers of the month throughout the school year. Baker received a plaque and $500 during a special assembly at the high school on Thursday, May 14.

Pitsco Education CEO Dr. Harvey Dean and President Lisa Paterni were on hand to present the award to Baker. “As an education company, Pitsco is proud to recognize the dedication and hard work of outstanding teachers like Barb Baker,” Dean said. “Her obvious passion for teaching and helping her students is the key ingredient to her success.”

Lambert referred to Baker as a “fantastic role model for all of us to emulate.”

“She gives of herself like no other educator I have ever known, from time preparing for her students’ days to sponsoring spirit squad to coaching volleyball and track to keeping her family on schedule,” Lambert said. “She is the best example of a selfless person that one could find.”
